OTHER SPORTS

Donald Moss never met a sport he did not like. Tennis was a personal passion throughout his life, along with skiing, but he loved the wide range of sports opportunities that his work for Sports Illustrated brought his way. He painted everything from the Forman–Ali boxing match and the Superbowl, to mushroom hunting and fly tying. Design for Sports was the company he founded for his sports marketing work and he was proud to place paintings in many American Sports Halls of Fame around the country. His portraits of Ted Williams and Jack Nicklaus were published in the book, “Champions of American Sport.” He was named 1985 Sport Artist of the Year by the American Sports Art Museum in Alabama, and had a retrospective in 1996 at the National Art Museum of Sport. He also has several works in the collection of the New Britain Museum of American Art where he was a board member of the Low Illustration Committee.
